Misc. Notes
Of his parents, Milton wrote . .

“Thinking back on time -- what my folks had in South Dakota . . . inside plumbing, running water, hot water, large house, circulating heat, family. Why they moved to Saskatchewan? Nothing there, but as I look back and try to remember I can’t recall either one really complaining about what had happened to their lives or fortunes.

I’m quite proud of my father and his brothers. They all spoke good English and most of them had the smarts to be in some kind of business. They were hard and willing workers.

My mother was a good mother and a very good cook. She made, repaired and washed more clothes. She also kept an open door to the whole family and friends, and anyone who wanted to stop by was always welcome.”

Misc. Notes
In 2014, Annette Windh James wrote this of her mother Lavina:

Lavina lives in a little town about 17 miles from me called Mt Angel, Oregon. A delightful town with a German heritage, it holds one of the largest Octoberfests in the US. Dad and mom moved to a retirement center there about nine month before he died. Independent living with all the perks, about 225 residents. After mom broke her hip last May we moved her into the assisted living/healthcare center within the same complex. Very nice as she can still interact with all her friends and still get the added care she needs. We often go to church and then for lunch, plus I usually am out there a couple other times during the week.
