At first she was at home tending to the housework, then she went to a course in “søm” (??) in Bergen in 1923 and a course in hand work in 1925 at the Sunnhordland folk school. She lived in Bergen until 1928, when she came home to take care of the house and garden.

Kari was for about 10 years a member of Skaanevikstrand's young missionary community. During her stay in Bergen she was for about a year and a half a member of the Bergen Hague Mission Association.
