A 1900 census document shows Nils Wind living in Malmo and working as an apprentice blacksmith. He may also have worked in Copenhagen and then the rest of his life in Stockholm. He called himself an engineer (though he may not have completed the equivalent of a present-day engineering curriculum) and worked many years for the Swedish branch of General Motors. When that branch closed late in his working career, it was a difficult time for Nils. Nils called himself "Vind" from time to time, which he may have considered more fashionable.
