In 1910, Lars, his two children (Lottie and Frank) and his 18-year-old sister-in-law, Emma, traveled from Norway to Edison, Washington, stopping off in South Dakota to visit the Gabriel Knudsen family. Gabriel had left Norway before Emma was born, so this was the first time he’d seen her.
