Born in Germany, fought with the British and with them evacuated Charleston in Nov. of 1782 and came to Nova Scotia. He was first granted 100 acres of land at East Jeddore, then later shared 800 acres of land with his son and son-in-law at Ship Harbor. Had nine children. Then at age 101 he married Sarah Lawrence on Nov. 14, 1831.
