Sylvie Gunderson Torkelson, 93, formerly of Marseilles, passed away Wednesday March 2, 2011 in Buffalo, NY.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marseilles with Rev. David Ufkes officiating. Burial will be in Stavanger Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home.
She was born July 10, 1917 in Marseilles to Barney and Selma (Benson) Gunderson. She was a devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and an active volunteer in the community. She was a secretary and bookkeeper at Spencer Insurance Agency in Marseilles for over 35 years.
Sylvie was the beloved wife of the late Roman Torkelson; dear mother of Nancy (Gary) Rasmusson of Buffalo, New York; sister of Kenneth (Catherine) Gunderson; cherished grandmother of Randall (Glenna) Rasmusson, Korise Rasmusson, Tamara (David) Olson, and Todd (Glorie) Rasmusson. She will be missed by her niece and her nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Beeman Gunderson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Immanuel Lutheran Church or Stavanger Lutheran Church.
