Carolyn A. Thiele, 64, Bismarck, died Feb. 13, 2004, at her home of Lou Gehrig's disease. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Burial will be in Peace Cemetery, New Salem.
Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. Monday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Carolyn Freise was born Aug. 17, 1939, in New Salem, N.D., to Harold and Anna (Hoherz) Freise. She graduated from New Salem High School in 1957 and then attended business college in Rapid City, S.D. Carolyn married James Thiele on Feb. 8, 1959, in New Salem.
Over the years, Carolyn was always involved in business activities whether it was selling Tupperware in Bowbells, owning a ceramic shop in Rugby with her good friend, Bonnie Carman, managing a rural water system in Bottineau, or selling and managing real estate activities in Bismarck and Washington state. She began working in real estate when the family moved to Bismarck in 1978 and worked for Northern Realty and then Bianco Realty, where she became a co-owner. Recently, Carolyn started Alliance real estate with her friend, Dick Olson, until her illness prevented her from working.
Carolyn enjoyed decorating and her yard and home were always filled with flowers of every type. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and their many activities.
She is survived by her husband, James Thiele, Bismarck; her children, David and Kelly Thiele, Dan and Corrine Thiele, and Sue and Troy Borud; her grandchildren Sara, Jamie, Paige, Kaitlin, Mason, Kyle, Conor and Payton; her sisters, Charlene Tittsworth, Miles City, Mont., and Arlys Schwartzfigure, Waco, N.C.; her sister-in-law, Janet Ackley, Billings, Mont.; and her step-grandchildren, Michael, Chris, Austin and Amanda Boschee, and Katie Bales.
