Misc. Notes
Left Rotterdam as a child on Agust 28, 1855, arrived in New York City September 17. His family first located in Lake Prairie township, Marion County, Iowa. The chief city there is Pella, which still has a Dutch character. He was married in that area and raised his four children there. But the US Census of 1920 shows him living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where his wife died in 1923. The 1930 US Census shows him living in “Ranger,” Brown County, South Dakota, a community which cannot now be identified. Three sources show him having died there in 1931 but he was buried October 23, 1931, in Minneapolis.
