He was born on the 45th birthday of his grandmother, Elaine (Windh) Schurb, in Orange, CA. He and his brother were baptized at Red Hill Lutheran Church in Tustin, CA. He was called Kevin for only a few weeks, then called Peter. He was baptized May 16, 1965. His godparents were Frank and Ruth Spiegel, his father’s aunt. He played football in high school and graduated from the same college as his father, Santa Ana community.
