Linda graduated from Bismarck High School in 1958 and completed a Standard Degree in Elementary Education at Dickinson State University in 1961.

Her hobbies include reading, quilting, crocheting, knitting, Hardanger work, visiting with friends, walking, traveling with bus tours and bird watching. She has identified as many as 21 bird species in one day during the spring migration.

From 1959 to 1966 she taught in Baldwin, Williston and Lakota, ND, and from 1974-1990 at Zion Lutheran kindergarten and junior kindergarten. She then began a new career as a chiropractic assistant, retiring after 7½ years in 1998.

Linda and Howard were foster parents from 1973 to 1989. Over the years they cared for four girls and continue to have contact with three of them of which Kim, their adopted daughter, is one.

Summer and part-time jobs: interior and exterior house painting, TSC hardware store, lumber yard stocking and delivery, Bismarck Assessing dept. (listing and reviewing real estate), real estate appraiser, teaching chemistry during the summer school at CHS.

Howard graduated from New Salem High School in 1957 and in August of 1961 from Dickinson State University with majors in math, chemistry and physics. He completed a MS degree in mathematics from the U. of Oregon, Eugene, in 1969.

From 1961 to 2000 he taught a year at Beach, ND, four years at Lakota, ND, 18 years (math) at Hughes Jr. High in Bismarck, and 16 years (math, chemistry, AP chemistry) at Bismarck Century High School. He retired in 2000. In 1999 he was named a Radio Shack-Tandy Scholars Outstanding Teacher, and in 2000 he won a U.S. Presidential Scholars Program Teacher Recognition Award.
