A weaver apparently known as August. His birthdate is from church archives in Bielefeld, Germany. Other family records say August was born July 31 or August 1, 1819.
According to Manfred Freise, August had at least one more child, a half-brother to his three named children shown here. This child was Manfred's grandfather. The archive in Bielefeld mentions only that August had one wife, Luise, and that she died after he did.
In April of 1878 when August's middle son, Hermann, was married, the wedding records note that August was deceased but his wife Luise was still living.
