Born in 1876 on Vonsild Mork about 1/2 Danish mile south of the Landsbyen Vonsild, a good Danish mile south of Kolding. Along with his three brothers and sisters he was baptized by the minister at Volsild, Pastor Mork Hansen.
He emigrated to the USA at age 7 (1883) and lived with cousins in Iroquois in the Dakota Territory. Their names were Jens and Laust Dixen. He had another cousin named Jens Dixen in Dows, Iowa, where they moved next. His father died of a fall from the wagon on the way to Latimer, Iowa, in 1895 or 1897 (he says both in a letter to Sara).
In 1908 Jens was ordained and took his first church in Denmark, Kansas. His mother’s father was Jens Lauesen Meng and his father was Jens Hansen Dixen. Hans Dixen was his older brother, a state senator at one time in Montana (?). Another brother, Johannes Dixen, was younger.
Jens and Carrie had eight children, the last three of whom are unnamed in this genealogy.

MONDOVI, Wis. (Special)
Mrs. Carrie Dixen, 72, died at the Mondovi Lutheran Home Wednesday afternoon [April 26, 1961] after a long illness.
Survivors are two sons, Scott, St. Paul, and J. Alfred, Ellandale, Minn., three daughters, Mrs. J. C. (Maria) Kjaer, Seattle, Wash; Mrs. Olaf (Sara) Borge, Shelby Mont; and Mrs, Carl (Esther) Wojahn, Savage, Minn.; two brothers Alfred, Council Bluffs, lowa, and Joseph, Minneapolis, and two sisters, Miss Dora Rasmussen and Mrs. Anna Christiansen, both of St. Paul.
The body will be takén to Withee for funeral services Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church
Mrs. Dixen was the widow of the Rev. Jens Dixen, Withee, who died in 1958.
