Roswell got Serena Oswood pregnant early in 1910 but never married her. She was living with and working as a maid for his father’s family in Aberdeen, SD, and he wasn't allowed to marry the maid! By April 1910 he had left town to live with his sister.
The 1910 US Census shows him living in Detroit, Brown County, South Dakota. Detroit is a now-vanished community which was six miles north of Claremont in Brown County, South Dakota.
He married Ruth Edwards about the same time Serena married Carl Windh. Then in 1949 he married Josephine Starling. After he died in August of 1951, she married William James in January of 1952.
A WW I draft registration card shows him living in Houghton, Brown County, South Daota, on August 7, 1917. The 1920 Us Census shows him in Aberdeen, SD. Various sources show him in 1925 in Houghton, SD, then in 1930 in Lansing Township, Brown County, SD, then in 1935 in Groton, SD, then in 1940 in Aberdeen, and in 1949 in Billings, MT. He died in 1951 in Chehalis, Lewis Couty, Washington, and is buried in Centralia, Lewis County, Washington.
