Johann Gaebe was a “heuerling” meaning he was a poor hired farmhand who never owned his own land but worked, often under humble conditions, for others.

An extensive GAEBE genealogy which came to Join Windh in February 2016 says this JOHANN FRIEDRICH GAEBE with an “unknown spouse” had a son, FREDERICK DAVID, who married HENRIETTA HOHLT and had two children. I believe that is in error. Elsewhere the same genealogy shows that a HENRIETTA HOHLT married HEINRICH FRIEDRICH DAVID (note the similar name) and those two children show up in that lineage. So I have arbitrarily chosen to ignore JOHANN FRIEDRICH GAEBE’S son and two grandchildren in that genealogy. That son, FREDERICK DAVID GAEBE is listed elsewhere as HEINRICH FRIEDRICH DAVID GAEBE, the son of HERMANN CHRISTIAN HEINRICH GAEBE and his wife MARIE MARGARETHE AGNES STRANGMEIER.

That same genealogy also shows that JOHANN FRIEDRICH GAEBE then married CATHERINE MARGARETHE ISABE STRANGMEIER and that no children were born to that marriage.
