Misc. Notes
Gerd Gaebe was a “heuerling” meaning he was a poor hired farmhand who never owned his own land but worked for others, often under humble conditions.
In May 2020, a reference at
ancestry.com raises questions about Gerd’s marriages and children, shown in the three identical entries for three wives. It also suggest two dates for Gerd’s own death .. November 11, 1830, and January 12, 1862. This information seems unreliable.
Another source says nothing about Gerd’s first daughter mentioned above. However it lists two sons, JOHANN FRIEDRICH (b. 1809) and HERMANN CHRISTIAN HEINRICH (b. 1813), who were born to his wife CATHARINE, who died in 1813, shortly after the birth of their second son. And it says Gerd soon married again, this time to ANN MARIE STAGGE, who bore him three more sons, JOHANN HEINRICH (b. 1815) and HEINRICH FRIEDRICH (b. 1824), HERMAN FRIEDRICH HEINRICH (b. 1829), though it says Ann Marie died in 1826 before the third one was born. Then this source says Gerd had a third wife named ANNE MARIE MEYER, whose birth and marriage dates match those of ANN MARIE STAGGE. This information seems unreliable.
All the above is contradicted at
familysearch.com, the Mormon Church’s vast genealogy site, which suggests the second and third wives above are the same person.
Yet aother source says this ANNE MEYER was born about 1795 in Germany, married Gerd on July 1, 1813, and died in Germany Jan 22, 1853.
What to make of all this? Awaiting clarification from someone, I have arbitrarily and temporarily listed Catharine as his first wife (three children) and Ann Marie Mayer as his second wife (three more children).

In February 2016 John Windh writes:
An extensive GAEBE genealogy which has just reached me seems to include a significant error.
---It says Gerd had a grandson named FREDERICK DAVID (b. 1838) by his first son, Johann Friedrich.
---It also says Gerd had a grandson named HEINRICH FRIEDRICH DAVID (b. Feb. 21, 1838) by his second son, Hermann Christian Heinrich.
Most likely these two grandsons are the same person as the genealogy says they married the same woman. The first grandson’s name, FREDERICK DAVID, is likely a shortned and Anglicized version of the second, HEINRICH FRIEDRICH DAVID. And FREDERICK DAVID’S daughter LOUISA and HEINRICH FRIEDRICH DAVID’S daughter-in-law, ANNA WILHELMINA LOUISA GAEBE, are likely the same person because they married the same man and are found elsewhere in the lineage of HENRIETTA HOHLT.
Therefore, once again awaiting clarification from somewhere, I have arbitrarily and temporarily ommitted any mention of FREDERICK DAVID GAEBE and of his two children.
